This joyful holiday season Mom to Madre is counting our blessings. We are grateful to our families, friends, supporters and community members, for enabling us to serve disadvantaged families in San Diego County, working as unpaid volunteers.
In October, we celebrated our sixth year of outreach, education, family literacy parties, and book donations. We are reflecting on the extraordinary experiences that come our way.
Our work is important. It is fueled by love and compassion.
Through November this year, we have given 135 direct services and education to parents and children at community events, including parent meetings in Head Start programs, State Preschools, Child Development Centers, and to families participating in social service programs for low-income people. We are proud to have provided information and education to staff and teachers, as well.
We get back as much as we give.
Organizations open their doors to us to provide parent education, family literacy parties, outreach and networking events. We are blessed to see people we know month after month, and year after year.
We play a role in the growth and positive changes of other human beings.
Preschool parents come to our presentations on Literacy, Kind Parenting, Kindergarten Readiness, Safety, Stress Management, Science Activities for Kids, Art and Craft Activities, and The Importance of Reading to Children, to help their children succeed in school. They are eager to have our information. It is a joy to have parents shake our hands and thank us. They don’t have to come. The meetings are not mandatory. We are so appreciative of the invitations to speak that come to us every month, and to the lovely people we meet!
We are members of the bilingual and multi-cultural community we serve.
Mom to Madre is proud to be a member of the Episcopal Community Services Head Start Policy Committee, as a “Community Representative.”
Your contributions enable us to give books to children and educational materials to parents. They are essential!
This year to date, we have given more than 5000 books to children, families, and organizations.
Donating to Mom to Madre helps promote literacy of San Diego families. 100% of your donation buys books for kids—not a penny goes to overhead or salaries!
Please make a donation today. Your gift makes a huge difference. Thank you.
