To my baby,
After nine long months, you have been born. We don’t really know each other yet, but we need each other.
Like a ray of light through clear water, I see you. I know you with every part of my being. Our bond grows our love at light’s speed.
I hold you close to feel you. You feel the beating of my heart, a sound you know so well, and it comforts you.
We are still one. You feel hunger and my body responds. Your tiny fingers grasp around my finger, linking us together.
With eyes that don’t quite focus, your cheek serves as sight when you seek my breast, feeling your way to it.
Your umbilical cord is gone but is replaced by an invisible bond between us. It is a cord that will always keep us connected.
My love grows exponentially, mirroring your own miraculous growth. My love will fuel your development.
Feeling loved, you will thrive. Knowing I am with you, you will take your first steps away.
Knowing you are safe and loved will give you the confidence to learn and become your own person.
Love is nutrition that feeds your character and sense of self. My loving acceptance of you helps you love and accept yourself.
My gift of affection to you comes back to me ten-fold. My hugs and kisses and gentle touches, will touch you for life.
I am thankful for the journey that we will begin together. I am honored to introduce you to the world and encourage you to join it, when you are grown.
Like a ray of light through water, I see your possibilities and your wondrous soul with clarity.
